When I think about Norway I think about color, the ocean and fjords are the brightest blue, the roofs of houses are a muted orange. Everything seems so much brighter because the houses are a stark white, and sometimes bright vibrant colors. The Jellyfish and fjords were the inspiration for my first white-line woodcut series. I wanted to capture these silent floating orbs of beauty.
I took this video when I was Kristiansand, Norway. I was intrigued by the jellyfish there. There are orange, red and purple jellyfish in addition to the clear ones. The more colorful are the most toxic.
The orange jellyfish are a beautiful apricot color with hues of darker orange underneath. The subtle apricot color next to the pale green of the sand, and the draker green of the sea weed is stunning.
