What Remains
What Remains is a fiber-based exploration of memory, transformation, and the enduring connections between past and present. Created from fragments of an earlier work, Ebb and Flow, the piece reflects the natural cycles of change, renewal, and the quiet persistence of what is left behind.
Through deconstruction and reassembly, familiar materials are given new form and meaning. Layers of crocheted, knitted, and manipulated fibers create a richly textured surface reminiscent of sea moss, underwater vegetation, and organic formations shaped by time and water. Predominantly green, the palette moves through subtle variations of tone and depth, evoking the resilience and regenerative qualities of the natural world.
What Remains considers the relationship between loss and renewal, exploring how fragments of the past can become the foundation for something new. Rather than disappearing, these remnants are transformed, carrying traces of their origins while finding new relationships and purpose. The work speaks to the beauty of impermanence and the ways in which memory, like nature, continues to evolve.
