After the Ebb
After the Ebb is a fiber-based exploration of transformation, memory, and the quiet beauty of what remains after change. Created from fragments of an earlier work, Ebb and Flow, the piece reflects the natural rhythms of retreat and renewal, drawing inspiration from the delicate formations revealed as water recedes.
Through deconstruction and reassembly, familiar materials are transformed into a new organic composition. Layers of crocheted, knitted, and manipulated fibers create a richly textured surface reminiscent of coral, sea foam, and tidal formations. A predominantly light palette of soft whites, creams, and pale muted tones evokes a sense of stillness and openness, capturing the subtle beauty of a landscape exposed by the retreating tide.
After the Ebb explores the space between endings and beginnings, where absence creates room for discovery and renewal. The fragments retain traces of their original form while becoming part of something new. The work reflects on impermanence and the passage of time, suggesting that even as things change or disappear, their presence continues to shape what follows.
