This photo was taken on the Hana Highway in Maui exploring one of the many waterfalls located on this magnificently winding road.
Lush, verdant, tropical magic. This is Maui. The vibrant green vegetation flows right up to the edge of the turquoise of the north pacific ocean. While Costa Rica is untamed and wild Hawaii is like a giant garden. The plants push up against each other and spill over the paths in a seamless pattern.
I was inspired by the flowers here. I wanted to capture the uniqueness of each plant, tree and flower. Each of my prints is meant to fully display each imperfection of these plants. Every little color variation and mark made by the chisel is intentional.
