Right now I am working solely on books. They are a series of self portraits, with stories of my life interwoven within the pages. I am enjoying the ability to use my preferred medium-painting in these creations along with pastels, drawing and mixed-media techniques.
The surfaces are highly textural and intentionally rough. Photos are transferred on fabric that is then applied to pages.
On the cover of this one you can see the many layers of paper, paint and gesso. I've left a little of the title and cover drawing visible. I'm always trying to push and pull the colors forward and backward.
This is an interior photo of two pages. The photo with the door is hiding a story about this photo of me. Many layers of gesso, paint and paper are visible, again with my shapes and lines representing the thread that ties us all together.
